The interior of the province is rich in areas of great natural beauty with spectacular landscapes. The districts of the Pyrenees offer visitors countless attractions: high mountains, rivers and torrents everywhere and incomparable grasslands and landscapes.

During winter months, Girona's snow-covered mountains provide spectacular views. The whole area of the Pyrenees is equipped with excellent skiing and winter sports facilities, with ski resorts such as La Molina, La Masella, Vallter 2000 and Núria.

There are also places of grat interest for tourists in the interior of Girona, such as the volcanic region of Olot, medieval towns such as Besalú, the Romanesque monasteries of Ripoll and Sant Joan de les Abadesses, the lake of Banyoles, etc.
